Why Blogging Helps SEO !!

SEO a term I didn’t have a clue about until this year , when I was in my second semester of third year studying Marketing. SEO stands for search engine optimization. The easiest way I can explain it is where your website is ranked on a search engine e.g. Google, Bing, Yahoo. It is activity that helps improve your search engine ranking on search engines. Google rates You tube videos , photos and most importantly blogs very highly so if you include some of these activities on your website, you will be further up on the google ranking and this will drive traffic to your website.

So why does blogging help SEO?

With blogs you are posting fresh content all the time. If a companies website hasn’t been updated in a long period of time, then somebody who updates it regularly will rank higher on a search engine. In blogs you are posting at least once a week and it is unique information that builds personal relationships with your followers. I know a nutritionist who has built a massive fan base from posting blogs on healthy eating. There website was previously down fourth place and in recent months is now placing second on googles rankings. As there blogs are linked into their website.

Including images and videos in your blogs also ranks you higher on googles search engine. Make sure you also name the pictures and videos using keywords that are relevant with the content , this also helps with SEO.

If you include social media links on your blog , google also rates this very highly. However , you have to use search terms and meta description in your titles.

Blogging alone doesn’t improve your SEO but blogs that portray fresh content , relevant pictures and videos and links to social media websites are what improves its SEO.

According to Bryce Propheter “Not only do blogs play a key role in improving your website’s search rankings, they are also a great way to increase your customer’s engagement, establish yourself as a thought leader, keep your visitors coming back for more and build trust within your community. They even integrate perfectly with your social media marketing.”

I hope this gives you a better understanding of SEO and the power of Blogging,

Top 5 tips for creating great Facebook content!!

Facebook is for most of us part of our daily routine. We check it in the morning, a couple of times during the day and just before we go to bed. It has become almost something we have to do , like going for a shower. We can’t begin to imagine our lives without Facebook.

Everybody wants to have good content on their Facebook page so they can receive endless comments, likes and shares. Here’s 5 ways to reach that goal.

1). Post content that is relevant

Your content needs to be relevant with the time you are posting it. If there is an event occurring or something big happening in the media. These are all relevant things that your followers will know what you are discussing. If the topic has huge media coverage , then the bigger the better!! People will have their opinions on it and will comment, like or share the topic.

2) At the end of your post end with a question or inviting followers to comment or share the post

This allows people to get involved in your posts. It allows people to feel like their opinion matters to you. It will attract more people to your post and get people talking about it.

3).Post a variety of content

You should always keep your content different. If you post a video one day, then the next day upload an image, blog etc. Keep your followers wondering what your going to upload next. Allow it to vary to keep your followers involved in your posts, because we need diversity or we will definitely get bored eventually.

4) Be conscious of the length of your posts

This is something I never knew until I researched this topic. According to Cormier, Facebook posts between 100 and 250 characters, which sees about 60% more likes, comments and shares than posts greater that 250 characters. This is a very interesting statistic , but is very realistic when you think about it. As most people just scroll down there news feed quickly and aren’t going to bother reading a post that is going to be time consuming.

5). Post funny or controversial posts

This is always a good way to get good content as almost everyone enjoys humor or a good debate. If people feel strongly about a controversial post that you published, then they are going to voice their opinion on your post. This also attracts other people to find out the outcome of the discussion. However, you have to be mindful that you do not want to offend anybody on your posts. With humorous posts people will want to share the post to allow themselves to receive likes and shares.

Those are my 5 tips on successful content, follow these and you’ll never have to worry about not having enough likes, shares or comments again.

This is a very interesting video from Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook CEO), from just over a month ago where he discusses the great lengths people will go to connect to the internet

The Future Of Social Media is Mobile

This topic is one we can all relate to, as most of us have to have our mobile phone on us 24/7. Anytime I don’t have my phone on me I feel like I am missing a part of myself. My mobile phone helps me to keep in contact with the world through my social media sites and prevents me from feeling like I’m not missing out on something.

Whether I’m logging into Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr etc.  it is all done with the touch of a button on my phone. The simplicity and convenience of your phone makes it a clear choice for interacting on my social media websites. It is a lot easier than having to take out my laptop and waiting for it to load.

“There is an increase of people accessing social media apps such as Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Tumblr through mobile devices. People are spending more time on these sites than they are using a desktop. According to the Social Media Examiner, Pinterest users are 92%, Twitter users are 86%, Facebook is 68%, and Tumblr is 46% mobile.”

The apps on your mobile phone for social media websites, allow us to be signed in automatically and we also receive notifications to our phones with updates.

Businesses are benefiting greatly from the app world. They can increase there clientele by having  an app, as most people now can book a restaurant through an app, access your bank balance online, book a taxi etc. If your business doesn’t have an app , they could be loosing business to their compeditors.

This is an interesting video on different trends of the smartphone users.

If you think mobile-first or mobile-only, you’ll start to see the opportunities.

My App Idea

We came up with a brilliant App idea.

We all know the struggles you have when you are shopping and are starved with the hunger from trekking from shop to shop….. You want to find the nearest restaurant that suits you with the least amount of hassle. Your tired and hungry and have been thinking about a certain dish/snack all day….

LOOK NO FURTHER because I have the perfect app for you!

Its called Locate Your Munch.

This App will track your location immediately and find the nearest restaurant with available seats. It will prevent you from going in and out of restaurants, only to be rejected as they are booked out . If your in the mood for Chinese, Indian etc. all you have to do is select your type of preferred restaurant and this app will search for the nearest ones with available seats. You can finally go out and not stress about where to eat, as our app will sort your problem in minutes. It has additional features which will allow you to select the amount of available seats and allows you to book those seats instantly. If you need a coeliac/vegan menu, wheelchair accessibility and baby changing facilities this unique app will answer all those puzzling questions.

In addition….                                                                                                                                                                 This App also provides marketing and profiling for a business. It allows the business to share and control whatever information they like on the app.

This video shows us why it is important for businesses to be involved in the world of mobile apps.

This App will be free to download on any Apple or Android phone.

Myself and my partner Martina O’ Farrell came up with the idea and we entered into

in Cork Institute of Technology on the 18th February 2015 . Unfortunately, we didn’t win but we still feel our app would be very successful.
